January 24, 200917 yr Hi I have been wanting to move to Thailand for a while but I can not find a job prior to going to obtain my non-imm b and work permit. I can not get a job teaching because I have no Bachelor's degree. I was wondering if it was possible to find employment in Bangkok and than get my work permit and visa there? Is the job market there good for a farang? And also if a criminal record check is mandatory for non-imm b? Thank you
January 24, 200917 yr Helpful to know your location and nationality. If you aren't married to a Thai, you will probably have to apply for a Tourist visa. I think most will say the employment situation is not very good. I think the criminal record check only applies to teachers applying for a visa, and those applying for Non "O-A" visas. January 24, 200917 yr You can come on a tourist visa and look for a job here. The work permit can only be applied for at the labour office in Thailand, once you have a job. Once you find a job you can go to a neighbouring country to get a non-immigrant visa. The job market isn't very good, but that would also depend on your qualifications.

If you find work then you can get your work permit and visa. It might mean a trip to a nearby consulate for the visa though.A back ground check is not required. How easy it is to find a job will depend upon your skills and qualifications. The global economic downturn is affecting Thailand also so now might not be the best time to look for a job.
January 24, 200917 yr Author I only have my high school I was thinking something in the hotel industry? Also would it be better to look for a job elsewhere than Bangkok maybe in pattaya or Phuket? I just recently graduated and have wanted to spend a few years in Thailand. Also I'm Canadian if that would make any difference. Edited January 24, 200917 yr by 4953adam

January 24, 200917 yr Author I have previous work experience in the hotel and customer service but no post secondary education.
January 24, 200917 yr Have a look for jobs here: http://www.xpressjobs.net/index.php You will notice that most jobs are for Thai nationals only.
January 24, 200917 yr I have previous work experience in the hotel and customer service but no post secondary education. What kind of experience?!? If front office or service, forget it... Otherwise, feel free to PM me your resume, I am a hospitality consultant. As you understood from previous posts regarding your thread, Thailand is out of consideration even with managerial background. But have some openings in neighborhood countries.
