Visa Requirements

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm Australian and on a multi entry Non O immigration visa and I've lost my notes about the requirements for staying on it. The thai immigration websites and google searching is useless! Can anybody guide me to a website with this information.

Specifically what is the requirement for when I need to change my residential address?

Thanks!

What type of non-o, marriage, retirement or other?

Are you asking about a visa from a embassy/consulate or an extension of stay that you get at immigration?

If you are on extension you can change your address when you do your 90 day report.

With a multiple entry you only need to leave the country after 90 days and return to get a new permission to stay for another 90 days. No need to file address.

Only when you are on an extension of stay from immigration within Thailand would you ned to report yur address every 90 days.

I'm on the marriage visa.

I'm living in thailand now but haven't done my first border run yet.

If you have a multiple entry non immigrant O visa baseed uon marriage you don't need any paperwork to do a border run.

If you want info for getting an extension based upon marriage see 2.18 of this police order. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/post-a74230-...r-2008.pdf.html

You need copies of marriage certificate, wifes Id and house book, and photos of you both in and around the house.

You have a non-immigrant visa based on marriage to a Thai.

You now want to ask for an extension of stay based on your marriage. For this you need an income of 40,000 baht a month or 400,000 baht on a Thai bank account for at least 2 months prior to applying.

2.18 applies to you.

Actually I'll take it back. Sorry the Thai system is so vague I rarely know whats happened....

Anyway I've thought about what happened a bit more and this is what I can remember.

Looking at the visa in my passport all it states is:

Type of visa: Non-Imigrant

Category: O

No. of entry: M

So its not a marriage visa at all but a multi-entry visa. Which I remember because the visa officer said it was the best one to be on.

Basically he explained to me that I didn't need to prove an income (when I brought that up the 3 officers on duty had no idea what I talking about - "prove income to who?"!) and all I had to do was do the border run every 3 months and reapply for the visa again in australia after the old one expired in 1 year.

Does this make sense to anybody. Help please!

You just have to do a border run every 90 days.

Also good to know is that if you make a border run day before your visa expires you'll get another 90 days.

So you can basically stay here for 15 months.
