There will perhaps be some public fireworks displays and I'd guess some public celebrating going on in Chinatown. There'll definitely be plenty of noise to chase the bad spirits away.

(We are entering the Year of the Ox. Hope this augurs well for the health of all farm buffaloes).

The Chinese New Year is very much a family affair. Some Chinese and Thai-Chinese will return to the motherland, or to villages, or wherever home and older family members are. If you're not family, it's difficult to fully experience the CNY.

If you went to a large Chinese restaurant, they'd have special CNY dishes to try and you could soak up some of the spirit of Chinese and Thai-Chinese enjoying their dinners there.
