Hey, I am wanting to get a tatto done in Thai, I was wondering if anybody could translate a short sentence for me?

Here goes:

FEAR NOT FOR THE FUTURE WEEP NOT FOR THE PAST

I hope you can help.....BIG THANKS :o

If you would peruse the pinned 'thai tattoo' thread at the top of the Language Forum; you would quickly see, sadly you are NOT in the minority of mindless foreigners who want to tattoo a thai translation of a 'catchy engrish phrase' upon your person.

Unfortunately engrish to thai direct translations often become down right unintelligible and meaningless. Although with that being said, the point becomes moot as who in your home country can even recognize the script is thai, let alone read thai?

Thai script might indeed "look cool", but you'd be better served to find a thai phrase or idiom which closer matches the meaning you are shooting for with your idea for a thai tattoo.

Sorry people.

This thread has veered off topic and is not helpful to the OP. A bit of jibing is acceptable but this got over the top.

I've removed off topic posts. If anybody has a proper translation of the OP's phrase to offer, feel free.

On topic: there is a special tattoo-request thread for this, displayed prominently at the top of the forum page.

If ink-seekers complain "well, I posted it there, but nobody responded," that would suggest nobody is interested.

I'm just saying...

Here is a sentence from Lexitron which uses a more poetic term for "weeping":

รำพึงรำพัน [V] bemoan; bewail; lament

Sample:เมื่อนักวิจารณ์วรรณกรรมได้พบปะสนทนาพูดคุยกัน ก็มักจะรำพึงรำพันถึงอนาคตของงานหนังสือ

"When the literary critics get together and converse, they lament the future of writing."

Thus, one might translate "weep not for the past" as "อย่ารำพึงรำพันถึงอดีต".

ว่าอย่างนี้สละสลวยพอสมควรหรือเปลาครับ?
