Hello,

We're planning to use Railay as a base from where we'll spend some good relaxing time but also get out into various places in Krabi mainland (Hot spring, Ao Nang...) at the end of April this year.

I'm wondering how regularly the boat from Krabi Pier to Railay Beach departs each day, whether it runs seven days a week and how much it costs. If it is either infrequent, expensive or unreliable then it probably makes more sense to stay somewhere else and just visit Railay for a day or two?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank you :o

Much easier to get to Railay from Ao Nang.

There ia a little booth next to the police booth where you buy the ticket. One scam here is though, is they quit at 6pm on the way back and if you go down there at say, 5:45 and they don't have enough people they will wait past six and say sorry, 600thb.........the original RT ticket is 120.

I do not have info on the Krabi Pier transfer.

Using Railay as a base will be a headache, use Ao Nang. All sorts of tour booths there that will get you sorted.

railay and tonsai are pretty difficult in april and may due to big waves. I wouldnt however wipe out plans to go there though, perhaps do some of your time based in ao nang to do sight seeing in that area and then take a trip in beautiful railay or tonsai for some time out from touristy ao nang

i know some nice places to stay in railay and tonsai if your interested just let me know

I agree with huggybear. You wouldn't want to use Railay as a base. It is a great place to visit but too difficult to go anywhere else from there.

Is there a safe place to leave your car, if you are staying at Railay for a few days?

It's pretty safe in Ao Nang, I don't believe there are many car breakins as there is a police box right there at the water.

Find a spot on the street up by MacDonalds and you should be fine. It's pretty busy there 24-7
