International School In For Children Bangkok

I fail to see how any parent would object to their child standing to the National Anthem. As a parent myself, I speak to many other parents who think likewise. It is just normal for anyone wanting to integrate into Thai society. As I am intending being here for many years with my family, I am more than happy for this simple sign of respect, which takes place at every school that I know.

Maybe this objection is a French thing? Or somebody just trolling :o

One can be more than happy to be a stooge. It's actually government promoted. You integrated well. Congratulatons!

History has obviously taught you nothing :D

And I thought it was us Brits that were supposed to be pompous.

Just a couple of one liners for you........

"I would rather have a German division in front of me, than a French one behind me"......Gen George. S. Patton

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordian"........... Norman Schwarzkopf.

Allez La republic, bon appetit :D

My daughter's International school in Japan plays no anthems, does not count anyone wants to integrate into Japanese society.

They just provide what we pay them for - a good and portable education.

We may stay here for years to come, nobody is cramming Japanese things into the kids mouths and brains.

The school is not a Japanese school. It's an International school. American. You should care how they are run.

They play no anthems, not even their own. They just provide quality education services.

Certainly, they observe natural things like seasons (4 distinctive seasons in Japan) snow, sakura (cherry blossom) , rice harvest, grapes, leaves changing colors.

Ends up as nothing than bringing home scatches, drawings, creations with red leaves or a masquotte of a snow man.

Nothing like a North Korean model of education.

You must have been on the saki, mate!!

Why would I be in the slightest bit interested in an international(American/Japenese/whatever) school, based in Japan?

We are in Thailand, happily immersed in Thai culture.

Whatever you get upto in the land of the rising sun, is upto you.

Because my school educates kids for same Universities as yours is supposed to, without exposing them for any local drills.

If you are "happily immersed in Thai culture", why International school? What are you running away from?

Or, is it because somebody else is paying?

FYI, not all international school plays the national anthem in the morning and make their students stand. Maybe they do play it, but not loudly. I think the only ones that do and make students stand are the ones owned and run by thai people.

Total, utter, complete <deleted> :o

Please make a list of international schools that do not adhere to the national anthem.

Some people :D

My school does not play the National Anthem on a daily basis - in fact we never play it. We do, however, stand and sing the King's Anthem, when we celebrate Wai Khru Day, Loy Kratong and Songkran.

As a retired school administrator who once did some serious applying for a few international schools in Bangkok, I think JacknDanny is correct. In fact, at least as of a few years ago, even though the headmaster might be a Westerner, there also had to be at least one key administrator that was a Thai national.

Still correct, as far as I know. Every International School, unless privately owned by a Thai national, is required by law to have a Thai as the "Licence Holder" and a Thai Head, referred to at my school as the "Khru Yai". If the school is a "not for profit" organisation owned by a Foundation Board, then that Board must be at least 51% Thai citizens.

Grtaylor,

Mind sharing the name of your school ? Any feedback about Shrewsbury ?

Thinktoomut,

Good luck arguing with JacknDummy, at least he's a fine illustration of how someone's brain could deal with more critical thinking and a tad less blind propaganda swallowing.

I am trying to decypher what you are saying and asking :D

I pay for my sons school fees, I choose International schooling as the standard of education is far better than local schooling.

Running away from? Sorry, thats gone right over my head, I havent a clue what you are going on about :D

I believe that although my son attends International school, that he should still benefit from learning and understanding Thai culture. What is wrong with that?

His mother is Thai, we live in Thailand, and intend doing so for many years to come :D

Hope I've cleared that up for you :D

Don't really know anything about Shrewsbury, sorry.

Maybe you all should worry less about the national anthem and think about actually financing your kids' educations, thinking of the actual quality of education, and being cautious of religious nutjobs running some schools.
