I honestly have tried to find the answer to this question but I haven't managed to find it among the forums or other sites so hopefully someone can tell me?

I am a full time teacher. I obtained my visa from Laos and had to do the 90 day reporting thing, but I left Thailand when I went home and didn't realise that I needed to get a re-entry permit (I know, stupid).

So now I'm on a tourist visa and have to re-apply. My school are preparing the paperwork for me and now I need to leave the country. I am desperate not to have to go to Vientiane as I hate the place and it is a mission from here (Chiang Mai).

Can I get the type of visa I need from Kuala Lumpur? From here I could fly straight there.

If so, how long does it take? At Vientiane you hand your passport in to the office in the morning and then collect it the next day in the afternoon.

What are the time frames at Malaysia? Can anyone help me out with this information??

Yes you can do it in KL.

Look at the top of page one of this forum there is topic about getting visas in the region, Several for KL that have hotels and etc.

According to a few recent posters, you won't get your passport back until the next afternoon. It used to be the next morning at 11am. So, be careful when booking your flight back to CMX. Read the posts thoroughly.

Thanks ubonjoe and jamesdaly yes been reading the posts. Actually I expected that because it's the same in Laos. I'm booking a flight to go there.
