Hi

On 29th January I posted two envelopes to Financial institutions in the UK

I can access both the Accounts on the Internet.

Both were cheque deposits - and neither have yet been received.

Is anybody else experiencing such delays?

I posted them thru the Mail Agency in The Mall, Bangkapi

who have proved to be most reliable over the past 8 years.

an ordinary letter for 20 baht (and said to be delivered in 3 weeks time) was on my doorstep within 4 days. A 20kg airmail parcel was at my home within 3 days. I would think your lellers are lost.

Maybe I am just lucky but mail from the UK (Airmail) almost always arrives within 4 days, mail to UK is usually 4-5 days. I havnt lost anything for almost 5 years.

I would agree with Londonthai, its probably lost.

Sometime. Its quick sometime its not.. You can trace the package anyway. So no worry.

They are TWO Ordinary Airmail Envelopes

They are NOT traceable.

I am wondering if the plane they were on got diverted due to Bad Weather / Snow - to

some other Airport in Europe - and Mail Bags were unloaded there and misplaced.

Anyway Replacements are not a Problem - just a Hassle.

I've had packages turn up 2 months after the were posted... I've had them turn up within a couple of days...

Very hit and miss...

Today I visited the Postal Agent in The Mall Bangkapi

I enquired if any other Customers had complained of Lost Mail

I was told "MANY"

To which Countries?

again "MANY"

But last week when enquiries were made at the Main Post Office they use

Khlong Jun (Bangapi) - they were not forthcoming with this Fact.

Has anyone or their Friends lost Mail to Europe recently?

Mine took 5 and 6 days. I agree, they are most likely lost.

As I already reported mine DID arrive safely but after FIVE WEEKS.

Many people must have been affected by this delay - but not any other

ThaiVisa members it seems!

no, the norm is within a week. More than that means problem with customs or just temporarily lost or misplaced (put on a boat instead on a plane - in that case 3 weeks)

I agree with londonthai & Fred.

However it is important to be aware there is airmail and SAL. Airmail is more expensive. Surprisingly SAL letters may go on a plane but can take 6 weeks to arrive.

Here's an excellent link.
