Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
This was his full quote. If he meant paying university costs in Thailand then I don't necessarily agree except it seems very unlikely that it would be picked up at the moment. If paying for goods/services in other countries then nothing to do with remitting money into Thailand. You assume wring about TRD addressing it. It was the subject of much debate in the long tax thread with diametrically opposing views. The other point is that there is very little "fine print" from the TRD relative to what many are used to from their home countries. Saying that, from a practical perspective it would be, I believe, very difficult and time consuming for the TRD to pick up individual foreign credit card spend here unless auditing to a very high degree. -

Canadian Embassy to discontinue income affidavit notary service April 1st, 2025
ATTENTION; CANUCK MEMBERS This was the update on the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok F/B page They will discontinue the affidavit of income from abroad on April 1st, 2025 REMEMBER; that income affidavit is valid for 6 months from the date it's issued so if you use one and have an extension coming up in the next 6 months GET it just before they stop issuing it What this means is IF you as a canadian passport holder want to use monthly income to meet the proof of funds for extensions you will have to do what the Britz, 'Muricanz & Auzziez do since their embassies stopped issuing the letter. You have to transfer in to the country the required monthly minimum for the extension you want (40K baht for marriage, 65K baht for retirement) each month, every month for the previous 12 months BEFORE you apply for the next extension. Here's the link to their f/b page Canada to stop income affidavit -

Zipline Incident in Chiang Rai Leaves One Dead, Three Injured
Picture from responders. A fatal zipline incident in Mae Suai district, Chiang Rai, has claimed the life of one worker and left three others injured after a structural failure caused a collapse. The incident occurred on 17 February at approximately 14:15 at Ban Saen Charoen in Wa Wi subdistrict, where a team of technicians was performing maintenance and safety tests on the zipline system. According to initial reports, while Mr. Watchara was testing parts of a zipline cable, the wire suddenly snapped, causing him to fall to the ground. Simultaneously, the supporting tower, where three other workers were standing , gave way under the strain of the wire breaking and collapsed to the ground. Local authorities, including the district chief, police officers from Mae Suai Police Station, volunteer rescuers, public health officials, and representatives from the Wa Wi Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, quickly responded to the scene. They found one of the zipline’s main support post toppled over and the injured thrown to the ground. The injured were immediately transported to Mae Suai Hospital. Mr. Watchara sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead due to the fall. The other injured workers were identified as Mr. Warawut, who suffered broken front teeth, lacerations to his left arm and chin; Mr. Kritsakorn, who experienced chest injuries; and Mr. Phitthawat, who sustained abrasions on his abdomen. In response to the tragedy, the chairman of the Wa Wi Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, acting under Thailand’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act, issued an order prohibiting the use of the zipline. Meanwhile, the Mae Suai Police have launched a full investigation and will summon all relevant parties to determine the exact cause of the incident. -- 2025-02-18 -
