Jingthing Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Correction: Fire in Jomtien As of a few minutes ago many, many sirens, ambulances, fire vehicles headed towards inner Jomtien near the beach. What/where exactly is burning? I am a ways off and it is dark but I can see a big plume of smoke. It looks BIG. (Mods: please change the title to Jomtien)
Jingthing Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 OK, the sirens have stopped. There were dozens of vehicles coming to this fire so still awaiting news on what is happening.
Humphrey Bear Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Probably an insurance job on one of the unfinished tower blocks.
PattayaParent Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Probably an insurance job on one of the unfinished tower blocks. It's difficult to burn concrete. In fact it's usually used as a fireproofing material cover to structural steel.

basjke Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Central? where there is a central even near Jomtien?
IamAgel Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Central? where there is a central even near Jomtien? Jomtien is a long road So if there is a North Jomtien and a South Jomtien There must be a Central Jomtien

Structural steel not being that easy to burn either But it does twist and warp in the heat and so can fail structurally.
CGW Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 ^^ Poll, from now on we refer to Soi Wat Boon as "central" Jomtien?
Rimmer Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Maybe it's another Ferrari "Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!" Arnold Judas Rimmer of Jupiter Mining Corporation Ship Red Dwarf
Jingthing Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 Like I said in the OP, inner Jomtien. Soi 4 sounds about right. I didn't even know there were that many emergency vehicles in Pattaya but I must say the fire fighting trucks did not look impressive.

Pdaz Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 So now we will have to wait for 'Howeird' from Pattaya One News to get on the story
lor Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Was there last night, saw all the police and emergency vehicles, saw people running away, many police on the beach road directing trafic, sirens every few minutes but just sat on Soi 6 enjoying my drink. Never saw any fire or anything else at all. Chris

You need to get a fire going around it first....bit hard to do if its an empty construction site
Jingthing Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 Where there's smoke, there's fire. Apparently nobody was hurt at the Soi 4 Jomtien fire: http://www.pattayaone.net/news/2009/march/..._02_03_52.shtml That was a huge response to this fire. Kudos to the firemen for putting it out and stopping it from getting to be a big fire. Case closed.
