March 3, 200917 yr Dead impressed with this scanner Here's a slide I took 20+ years ago using a fuji 645 and provia. Handheld and not the sharpest of lenses but just look what the Epson extracted. The smaller image is a minute section of the original IMHO very impressive

March 4, 200917 yr Author Impressing! What dps do you use when you scan and how long time took it to scan this slide? dpi output depends on the film format - this slide (a 645) was scanned at 3200 dpi. For 6x6 and 6x7 formats I scan at 2400 dpi and 35mm at 4800 dpi. I'm always aiming at a 48>24 bit file of 140 (ish) MB which I then re-size to 300 dpi which gives me a final image size of 55-85 MB depending on initial film format. Actual scan times are about 90 seconds using Silverfast Ai Studio software. The bundled Epson software is nearly as good as Silverfast but lacks the fine tuning of the later. Hope this helps
