Luggage Labels

Featured Replies

Spurred by popmybubble's topic on locking/not locking cases I thought I would try this one. NOT a poll, just your comments and/or experiences.

In my view luggage labels are as superfluous as an ashtray on a motorbike. What do you think ?

Absolutely, with:

-- Name

-- Cell phone or office number(s) (NOT home tel #, don't want someone using a "reverse directory" and getting my address!)

-- Itinerary, including date and flight numbers

Tag on outside of bag, with copy on the inside.

Over 45 years of international flights, have never had a lots bag (so far) and even the very few times a bag has been delayed by a day or three, it's caught up with me.

I use them. I had a lost bag once flying from D.C. to Phoenix, and the luggage tag was help in identifying the bag, which was fairly promptly delivered to me, even though I had driven immediately to Tucson.

Other times it has helped me quickly identify my bags, which have sometimes looked virtually identically to others.

It is a must, I travel on international business all over the world and have had bags lost / missed connections etc. many times.

I put a tag with flight No's Mobile No. and name, in the outside pocket there is a full itinerary and names of people to contact when the bag is found.

Once on my way to Norway my bag didn't turn up for clearance in Denmark and I only had an hour to get my connection and there was a queue of people in the same boat where they ask you to identify your luggage from pictures. Since that day I carry print out pictures of my main bag and it's distinguishing marks in my hand luggage and jjust give a copy to the bag people at the airport.

To dat my bag has gone astray many times and I have always got it back quickly due to labeling.

Some may think it is overkill but if you are on business and really need your bag as opposed to holidays where you have the time to get new stuff it is invaluable.

(Just don't put your home address on it, phone mumbers will do.

Tags inside & outside with mobile numbers in Aus & Thailand. No home address.

I use fluoro heavy duty tags, not freebies from the airlines... Impossible to rip off. :o
