Marriage Extension In Tak

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried to get a marriage extension in Tak under the new rules?

I am coming back to Thailand at the end of May on a 3 months non-Imm O visa and I will not be working anymore. My pensions will cover the marriage extension but I have no idea yet if there will be enough to go for a retirement visa.

I used to go to Suan Phlu but as I live near Khampaeng Phet I now have to go to Tak.

The rules should be the same as every where and Tak immigration is known as very user friendly.

If you will have an income of 40,000 a month and get a letter from your embassy confirming it there should be no problem.

Thanks Mario

I will take a trip up there in June with my family (who speak better Thai than I do) and see what information I can get on their requirements and post it here.

Call in advance, as you need to show a list of other things. But the requirements differ from office to office.

At least you will need things as:

- marriage photo's and photo's of you and wife/kids together

- your wife to be inteviewed

- wife ID card and tabien barn (household regestration)

- map to the house

- bankbook with some money in it

I will take a trip up there in June or July with my wife and son and between us we may be able to sort out what is needed and when. Also it will be an exercise in finding the place. It is in TAk proper and not at the Mae Sot border I think.

It will be a pain having to go to Bangkok to get a letter from the embassy (400km each way plus a couple of days as well) then probably another 100 or so each way to Tak.

No, it is on the outskirts of Mae Sod, on the border. next to the border crossing. Just go to Mae Sod and folow the signs for the border/friendship bridge.

You can find it on google maps here:
