What's wrong with that, Kreon? Seems to me you answered your own question -- if you've let the raggers from previous threads get to you regarding nailing 18+ yr. old students, forget it amigo -- you're alright! Regards!

Felt sick this morning,in the pool in my village just outside Pattaya, was a 50+ German, with bleached blond hair, nipple rings, and worst of all he was wearing a small thong right up the crack of his ass.

For the first time in a long while I really wanted to go and have a go verbally.

I hope he's just on holiday and not moved in to the village,as lots of Thai kids use the pool.

Its a well documented fact that young children regularly urinate in swimming pools, as for Germans, they recently came first in a "Durex" survey of the most sexual deviant people in Europe, so small wonder what water sports they play ... enjoy your swim. :o

This phenomenon still astounds me...

Imagine being in UK/US. A bunch of African ex-pats in their 30s, 40s & 50s hit the country and start dating young girls aged 16-18. It becomes a common sight late at night to see these guys and their girlfriends (still in school uniform) hanging around late at night in your town centre.

After closing time, they can be seen hanging around the streets together in car parks, public parks drinking beer they got from the local 7-11 & openly fondling each other.

Ask the girls why they go with these Africans & they'll say it's to get money for books/phones etc.

Ask the guys & they genuinely believe that the girls find them more attractive than the local guys. Also, their egos have been stroked to the point that they are also convinced that they are better 'hung' than the local guys.

As a local, do you say to yourself 'it's OK - these guys are helping the girls out really' or 'they are just having some fun'. Or would you be in the front line at the lynching party ???

Respectable farang :o ? Or giving the rest of us a bad rep ?

50+ year old kreon........taking every opportunity to tell the world about your money and 18 year old nymphettes , posting a picture of your porsche as if there is anybody in the world who doesnt know what a porsche looks like.

i dont know you and i dont wish you any misfortune or harm , only happiness , but ,at the risk of being rude and intolerant , i have to say , you are a sad git.

nothing wrong with dating young girls , nothing wrong with being wealthy, nothing wrong with owning a fine german sports car.

but why do you have to keep telling everyone about it.

To be considered respectable, in any country and not just Thailand, I would say requires an individual to be respectful of the people and place they are in. Be polite, mind your manners, and try to learn as much as you can about the local customs so as not to greatly offend anyone. It's as easy as that.

Dressing a certain way and trying to maintain a certain facade is just superficial nonsense. Just be polite and respectful IMHO.

Well, guess it is just a matter what kind of respect one is after.

Show-off with a fancy car, loads of money and all those things will be surely respected but actually not the person. These are just baits for pretenders and spongers.

Shave your head, dress yourself in unfancy orange colored clothes, walk around barefoot and don't have a single baht in your pocket and many people in Thailand are going to respect you anyway.

Obviously, it is not a matter of possession but rather behaviour what earns true respect.

Looking for respect? Be human and avoid being an as.....

Just a thought :o

> what do you think is the ideal profile of an acceptable farlang

For starters: being able to pronounce "farang", and only use it when appropriate.

as there seems to be a lot of post on the losers and jobbo's, what do you think is the ideal profile of an acceptable farlang :D

It's not what you wear, how you talk or behave. A farang is respectable as long as he respects and care about others. IMO

actually as all thais are interested in is wealth, or the perception of wealth, it all comes down to money, if i go to a top class hotel in me knackered old truck i get questioned by the security, and on parking at the restaurant i get maybe 1 or 2 greeters waiing me, if i go in me sports car, i get saluted by the security and the door greeters call out a few more to help with the waiing, yep in thailand u cant beat the illusion of wealth, in fact on buying my sports car i seem to have gained quite a few years in age, on meeting older thais in my car they now wai me first and call me "pee", if i am using me truck which is most of the time i do not warrant a wai, still i dont care :D

Well, if your concept of being respected is merely getting wais which is on such a superficial basis, then...... :o

Some people here really have been communicating quite well with the Thais.

Yeah, maybe he is showing off a little -- there's also the 5-star hotels all over the world and the fact that he wears suits regularly and spends 6,000 Baht per month just for air-conditioning. :o Nothin wrong with showing off from time to time -- and owning and driving a Porshe is not something that is common. :D

Knowing what a Porshe is and having one are 2 different things -- I owned 3 (certainly not at the same time) back in the 80's in Calif. and didn't have anywhere near the dough Kreon had or has -- sheer poetry to drive one of these machines -- the monthly payments on the car along with the $400-600 tune-up charges was strangling me, but the driving pleasure was supreme.

My first was a 911SC -- don't know if Kreon knows or remembers much about the mechanical attributes of these purrers, but driving from LA to New York, while climbing the mountains in Durango, Colorado, one of the chain-tensioners snapped and unbeknownst to me at that time, an entire half of the engine just got wiped out. No mechanic in that region knew how to fix it -- my Jewish Am. princess saved the day by calling Steve Taub Porshe in Santa Monica (where we purchased the car) and a flatbed was sent out and the car towed to LA. Warranty covered the entire damage.

BMW's, Mercs, Jags, Lamburgs, Lotus, Ferraris, whatever, nothing like a Porshe!

The blackie in the picture is a beaut! More power to you amigo! :D

I went to Bruno's in pattaya the other night for dinner. The first time i've been there as I'm happy eating at home or in the market. Excellent and very good value. :D

When we walked in we were greeted by the waiters etc who were very nice, The head waiter was a bit funny with us and some of the other diners kept looking over, It does'nt bother me really as I could'nt give a toss what people think of me but I still know how to conduct myself. :o

Some of the thais annoy me as they look at us as if they are all high and mighty and we are peasants. They might be richer than me but its all materialistic Bullsiht, I'll pull up on my Honda Wave if I want but i would still expect to be treated the same. (My Fathers client, friend is one of the wealthiest guys in Thailand and he is a lovely guy). I think the problem is with the "pretend" hi so people.

Through jobs I've had before, i've dined and stayed in top restaurants and hotels and looked after one of the worlds richest arab families and i was good enough to sit at the same table as them.

i've been to a few top notch restaurants here and have the same experience as you :o

the funny thing though, it changes when i go with the rich thai's, then they think they're doing me a favor and still expect me to pick up the tab :D

its really hyprocitical and happens at all levels of society here :D

fair to say they can get stuffed and i just enjoy my classy meals without them and then later go to the cheap noodle shops to dine and wine them :D

Did you read the sales info on that black '930 porshe' before you posted it as an example of your fine machine? I thought that car sat kinda funny. In the US we have a saying, "Big hat. No cattle."

Big hat..no cattle is that like 'doh lair'?

I've always found that those who do the most boasting often have the least to boast about, or they are making up for other short comings....

I think the best type of 'ferang' here are the friendly, open ones who don't constantly tell you how good things were in the old days compared to how dull it is here now... Not everyone came here to drink 24hrs a day and spend their evenings in a den of vice..

Sorry, I disagree with you here. Appearance does count in Thailand and if you dress in a way that is contrary to local customs (ie thong bikinis and speedos) then that is being impolite and disrespectful.

Well, I didn't mean go around looking like a complete slob. What I meant was that people don't have to dress themselves in business attire or some such nonsense to show everybody that they have money in order to gain respect. By no means am I saying go about with a unkempt, disheveled appearance and hope your charm gets you by. Most of the time, when I am in LOS, I dress very casual in a nice pair of shorts, a clean t-shirt, and sneakers. I never encounter problems with anyone being offended by my appearance and I maintain my comfort.

Far too often I hear people preaching about how Thai people won't respect you if you wear shorts and not slacks or something similar to that. That's total nonsense.

I could go on and on about this but I am not condoning looking like a person that hasn't showered in a few days. I might have been a bit unclear.

when one is of a certain age wearing clean clothes and appearing as old and decrepit as one can usually goes down a treat with most locals. Also wave and smile a lot. Also when I surround myself with my wife and her family there tends to be less of the 'Falang fukc you' business that one would encounter when alone.

But...I don't go out a lot so <deleted>...
