Accommodations At Koh Samui

Featured Replies

We stayed at a nice place outside of Lamai Beach last summer for about 10 days. We had booked it online in advance and it seemed that we got the best deal possible at the time with breakfast included. We met a older couple staying in the bungalow next to us. It seems that they paid only a fraction of what we paid. They were staying for 1 month, but still, it was amazing how little they paid compared to us.

Is it better to book a place ahead online or wait until arrival to negotiate with a place? If choosing the latter route, perhaps booking the first night in advance may be a good idea just to ensure you have accommodations setup when you arrive...

Any suggestions?

From my experience the hotel owners on Samui would rather have an empty room than do you any favours with a discount!!!!

Having stayed at a hotel for a couple of months I again booked into the same place on my latest trip only for the monthly fee to increase by an extra 2000 BAHT. I had only been gone 3 months!! On asking them why they had increased by so much they said that they needed more money as they were quiet!!!!! Business owners on Samui have no idea about the global recession!! Book it now as they certainly will not drop their prices!!

Good luck.

I've known monthly-rates be a 2/3-discount to normal prices, guess that they hope to make it on meals/drinks instead, or are just happy to have filled a base-line level of capacity ? :o
