Bangkok To Koh Samui

Featured Replies

We live in Tokyo and we're planning a trip this summer to Koh Samui. Last year we flew Air Asia from Bangkok to Surat Thani and then used a bus and ferry to get to Koh Samui. On the return trip to Bangkok, we went the same way and also spent a nice night in Surat Thani on route.

Last summer my wife and I traveled with our 2-year old boy. This summer he'll be 3 but his little sister only about 8 months! So, it seems like it would be more difficult to take the Surat Thani route from Bangkok to Samui with 2 little ones. Can anyone suggest an alternative? I know that Bangkok Airways flies direct from Bangkok to Samui. However, I was hoping to keep costs down. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Bangkok Air is having a promotion called Summer fly which does make it a bit cheaper. It is the only alternative, and the only direct route. Bus and train all go through Surat and require the bus and ferry to the island

Thanks for that info. It seems that if the savings are reasonable, we may go as a family via Surat Thani. Then, for our return, my wife will probably fly with our baby direct to Bangkok and to Tokyo on the same day. While our boy and I will stay in Samui for a ew more days. We would probably go via Surat Thani, once again, if it's much cheaper.
