Do I Need A Routing Code For An International Bank Transfer?

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is a stupid question but someone is sending me about $2,000 from a USD account in the Philippines to my SCB account here and he asked for my routing code, but all I know is the account number (lost the book ages ago), can the transfer be done without it?

Sure he's not asking for the SWIFT code?

That should be all you need in addition to destination account name and number.

He said routing code....whats a SWIFT code? All I have is an old deposit slip that I used ages ago with my account number on....

Yep, you need SWIFT code so take a look on you bank web pages or give them a call.

Take a look HERE

What you need to receive money into SCB bank account:

your Name

account number

Adress of the branch (mine was Ramkhamheng Rd)

SWIFT code: SICOTHBK

Routing code is not needed - that's for outclearing between the banks and non-banks (credit unions) in the US.

If you lost the passbook you better start going to the branch where the account was opened and take all your documents to prove who you are and get a new book as you can't get any cash with out the book. Unless of course you have an ATM card for that account. But I think a new book is in order.

When you're at the branch they can give you the needed info for the swift transfer
