Nokia 5800

Featured Replies

When I try to send a sms message it just goes in the outbox and it says it will resend in 3 minutes time, nobody is getting my SMS messages at all.

<deleted>, when I tried to send a simple sms it asked me via a prompt the message centre name etc.

Obviously its a settings problem that no doubt others have come across, I moved from Sony Ericsson to Nokia so I'm not clued up on the New Nokia phones.

Any ideas chaps ?

I'm with AIS.

BTW, the Nokia 5800 is a great phone, now if only I could send a message ! :o

can you set the message center to "SIM or automatic" ? And check if you have set "send messages as TEXT"

If any doubt call AIS and request settings send to your phone (assuming you can receive)

and simply save that SMS. That should do the job

Hi Webfact,

I can recieve messages. I looked at the phone settings again and can't seem to change the messaging centre, when I type out an SMS the sms just goes to the outbox but isn't sent.

I get a prompt saying, messaging already in use !

Messaging type: Automatic, Character encoding :reduced support.

strange. Normally if you create a message in "offline mode" and hit the send button, the message will be stored in the "outbox folder"

If you switch to "online mode" the message will be send. Normally this happens automatically when you go "online" again.

According to your report they are all stored in outbox.

Turn your phone off and turn it on. Check if messages are send.

If not something blocks outgoing messages....

Webfact,

Tried that and the message remains in the outbox and will be resent every 3 mins, but there is nothing being sent.

now this - the same happened to me when my carriers message center was overloaded or temporarily down.

Message remained in outbox and every few minutes another attempt to send. You should better call to AIS.

I trust they come up with an answer.

I just called AIS and got this number for the message centre number:

+66818110888

It worked too!

I have a G1 and there is nowhere to put that sms number into. I can receive fine, but cannot send. AIS was completely hopeless with information.

I asked them to send me a config sms and they had no idea what that was.

In settings, there is no option to input a message center number.

The local Thai android forum guru told me that all that info is in the sim card. I tried other sims and nothing.

Strange. Anyone using a g1 in Thailand?

i think have problem with the SMS Centre Number. try to fix that.
