Apologies, in advance, if this has been asked previously.

Are there word games, like Scrabble, for example, in Thai - or crosswords?

There is a Thai Crossword game, it's called คำคม.

Crossword puzzles in Thai are called ปริศนาอักษรไขว้ (or เกมอักษรไขว้ or เกมปริศนาอักษรไขว้).

Similarly, the Thai version of Scrabble (though not officially connected to Scrabble) is called เกมไขว้อักษรไทย.

If you're interested in the history of Thai scrabble, I found this page, which gives some history. Thai "scrabble" is patented by a Thai champion English-language Scrabble. There are, of course, knock-offs.

You can see in this picture that they leave spaces between each row of consonants for subscript and superscript vowels. This version of Thai "scrabble" is named "คำคม เกมต่ออักษรภาษาไทย". I've never actually played it, but I've seen versions of it around the store shelves from time to time.

[Edit: Yoot beat me to it. Funnily enough, we linked to the exact same picture (which I've added below). We both have good Google skills. :o]

Interesting. Many thanks to both of you.

It was the handling of subscript and vowels and that had me curious.
