The mother of my friend is using Non immigrant which will expire on 10 April. She would like to change for visit visa to Thailand again. How can she go to Vientiane by train? Is that possible to go Thai embassy from the train station directly by tuk tuk? Then, can take the visa next afternoon and back to Thailand by train again? How can she get the train and how can she book for this? I think she should go this evening or not later than tomorrow evening, right? There can be the New Year holidays in Laos as well. Kindly advise on this.

I think her best bet is to take train to Nong Khai then catch a tuk tuk to Vientienne. and return tuk tuk to Nong Kha then train back home. I sure would get started as soon as possible though and from what I can tell NOW is the best time to get going.

If she is on a multiple non imm she can go to the border, any border and get another 90 days.

How old is the mother and on what kind of permission to stay is your friend?

If she is over 50 and your friend has an extension of stay himself from immigration, it might be possible to get an extension of stay for the mother from immigraiton in Thailand itself.

My friend lives here by using work visa. And let her mother stay with non immigrant. She will not continue her contract in Thailand and her visa will be gone soon. For herself, she went somewhere a few days ago and change into visit. But her mother should change as well. Her mother is around 65 years old. Any good idea for the convenience of this old lady?

If your friend went "somewhere" why did her mother not go with her ?

The Embassy in Vientiane will be closed most of next week so she needs to get there Thursday morning or before to get tourist visa this week. If she is in Bangkok and can not do that she could make a border trip with organized van/bus for a 15 day stay to get a little more time before getting the tourist visa. Cost is about 2,000 baht and several companies advertise in classified section of Bangkok Post.
