Hi - looking for Chiang Mai's best hot cross buns this easter :o

Either mind-bogglingly good traditional style with a little fruit peel...

Or mind-blowingly good modern chocolate style.

Failing that... anything resembling a bun with a cross on it.

Any ideas on where to find such a bun?

When Upper Crust was in the Night Bazzar, they had amazing sticky buns with pecans. I hardly ever make it to their train station location, but you might try them. They are Christians, so I'm sure that they would be happy to put a frosting cross on the buns.

Happened by yesterday. The only thing that resembled buns were muffins.

Staff didn't have a clue about easter buns :o

My friends now have a coffe/ snack shop inside the Rimping Ruam Choke branch and are selling their sticky buns. They also have cinnamon rolls. The sticky buns are the best though! Butter is better! I'll try to get him to chime in here, 'cause I never know where they're selling or where they're at with production n distribution. .....Though I do know many friends enjoyed a chocolate ganache torte by them that I served up at a birthday party a week ago.

Thanks for the replies, folks. Will try out the UN-Irish bakery this morning :o

Someone told me (some time ago) that the UN-Irish pub did a nice line of scones.

Well being a it of a lover of scones (and a bit of an aficionado as my Mum used to make the best I have ever had) I happened by (the UN-Irish pub)

The result was I had found an outlet for building material "bricks" they were so g'dam_n hard you could have used them in the foundations of a multi story building.

I will visit again and see if there has been any improvement (and check out the cinnamon buns whilst there) BUT, I won't hold my breath.

I don't think that the UN Irish pub has cinnamon buns, but I agree about the scones. Being American, I don't really know what they are supposed to be like, but lumps of cement just can't be right. :o
