smacko
Did a search, but didn't find much feedback on this. I'm just wondering what Australian banks people are using to withdraw from ATM's in Thailand. Or is it a better option to open a local account and fund transfer from Aus. Which Bank? Account Type? Card Type? What are fee's? any input to aid my decision would be appreciated. cheerz
peter991
I took my CBA (Commonwealth Bank) VISA card and also debit card and had no problems. So long as your debit card has either Maestro or Cirrus logos on the back of it you should be right. You can withdraw up to 20,000 baht from most ATM in Thailand. CBA charges a fee of $AU4 per transaction, so usually take enough money to last a while. Take out what you will spend and put the balance in your hotel safety deposit box or room safe. Most ATM give out 1000 baht notes, but one I used gave out 100 baht notes.
tuky
I was with Police and Nurses credit society, but I have since given up all aussie bank accounts, as far as I am concerned it is best for me to keep my money out of aust. Hence I have Bank od Bangkok and an HSBC offshore. Works well for me and the aussie tax man is bypassed.
