Ulysses G.
The Thapae Gate area is being blockaded by a good number of reds and traffic can't get by. They have issued a staement that they will not move until the reds in Bangkok do.

Loaded
There's gonna be a lot of angry people. How are people going to get to Mike's, Paradise Pizza, Miguels, Maddog? What about during songran? If they have blocked that junction, the traditional drive round will be severely affected. Looks like I got my books changed at around 11.00 this morning (at Gecko!, last soi on right before Thapae Gate "where else") just in the nick of time before they shut everything down. I would have been stuffed if I didn't have my reading material organised before Songkran

Was there just minutes ago and managed to make it through the tuk-tuk barricade on my motorcycle, but looks like traffic was getting backed up. Not sure if you could make it through now. And of course the BIB were just down the road taking a load off, and of course the farang at Black Canyon were taking pics and elated to be a part of the action. A young girl just before the gate was getting her water pistol primed. All essential parts of being in Thailand. A red shirt was taking a photo of the barricade with the digital camera (no doubt to be uploaded to the web and distro'd via twitter), and masked red shirts were patrolling up and down the moat. They seem somewhat organized, eh?
elektrified
I got caught up in the red coat procession yesterday around 15:00 as I turned on to Sapan Nawarat. Unfortunately they took the same route as I needed to go. It was not so bad though. The police were escorting them to hurry them along so that the traffic didn't get too congested. realthaideal
Yuck! This is dumb. It's just gonna mess things up for all the fun that's supposed to be around the corner, and any last minute business plans any of us have b4 the craziness starts. What a bummer this back-and-forth with its zeal for disrupting everyday life!

cmsally
They have closed off Tapae Rd and around Tapae Gate. Not a lot of traffic on the moat around there too, not sure if inner moat rd. closed. It's been announced on local radio that this would happen since this morning. They even said time would be 1pm, so it is organised; apparently by songtaew and tuk tuk drivers. Policemen are all gathered under a shady tree, all provided with bottles of water.
