I may meet up with someone from the UK in Bali next month and I'm thinking of asking them to buy and bring over a UK pre-paid SIM to give me a UK number people can call me on while I'm in LOS and other countries in the region.

Any recommendations which one might:

1 ) Allow roaming (voice and txt)

2 ) Top-up via Internet

3 ) No or looooong expiry

4 ) Easy for friend to find/buy in London

When you use roaming and someone calls you from the UK you will have o pay the trunk call from the uk for them. They pay the cost in the UK and you from there.

Don't be tempted to ask for a Virgin Mobile prepaid sim. In my experience, contrary to what they claim on their website, roaming doesn't always work in Thailand & that goes for other countries too.

Get a Skye local UK number. Then they can call that number and if you are offline they can leave a message. Its certainly cheaper than having a roaming UK sim!
