Then I only need one border run, and I'm covered until mid february.

So is there any advantage in applying for a Non O visa now?

If they let you on the plane - get the multi entry non immigrant O visa from Hull when you are in the UK. You then have flexibility to cross borders at will.

First of all, what flight ticket do you have, without a flight out of Thailand within 30 days your airline may not let you board the plane.

Secondly, if you get a double entry tourist visa in Laos, how will this cover you until mid February, a double entry with extensions will take you to December.

2 extensions to a tourist visa will cost you 3,800 Baht, that's over £70. Not sure when the free tourist visa ends, so don't know if it will apply to you or not. You can easily get a one year multi entry Non Imm O from Hull for £100, gives you 90 days at a time and no problem getting on your flight.

So why wouldn't you get a multi non O?

You know it makes sense.

The thing is, I'll only be in thailand 3weeks before june, a border run end of july and at the end of september I go to malaysia.

Between then and the end of january I won't spend more than 2 weeks at a time in thailand.

I've been planning to get a non o all along, but now at the last moment I'm thinking maybe I won't be needing it.

Only reason I can think of is if it means I don't have to return to UK next year to get a nonO(to visit friends)

U cant apply for a Non Immigrant B unless you have a legitimate business purpose in Thailand.... suggest you speak with a local lawyer , there are many advertising here in Thai Visa

Why talk about a Non-Imm B when the OP clearly enquired about a Non-Imm B - surely not a commission agent for the lawyers

Why not get a Non-Imm O is the best answer - it gets the job done.

If you want advice from the people here ( and there are many knowledgeable people) it would be a good idea to state what your plans are in the original post.

If you are only planning to spend 2 weeks at a time in Thailand, then how many 2 weeks?

Most airlines will not allow you to board the plane unless you have a flight out of Thailand within 30 days or a Visa.

I'm travelling around SE Asia, mostly Airasia, I have 4 months to stay in thailand continuously.

I was going to spend longer but airasia keeps having sales...

they never asked about onward tickets.

I probably want to move to asia permanently in the future, and possibly wish to remain in thailand after january, not have to return to UK

An airline will not usually ask about what visa you have when you but a ticket, it's a different matter when you try to check in. If you do not have a flight ticket out of Thailand within 30 days or a valid visa, they will be unlikely to allow you to board the plane. Get a multi O

No brainer. Get the Non Imm O multi entry from Hull. Gives you the most flexiblity; easy to get by post; you won't have to worry about getting a visa in Vientiane (weekend, holiday stumbling blocks, etc); and, yeah, AirAsia might not worry about onward tickets -- until the day you plan to travel.

If continuous, it will be illegal, as you'll need to do at least one border run regardless of visa type. Non Imm O will at least let you stretch your continuity to 90 days without worry of border run or extension at Immigration.

How'd you figure that?

The Non Imm O visa from Hull, Birmingham or Cardiff is you best bet.

It allows you to come and go over a period of one year, 90 days max in each entry.

Remember entries at a land border without a visa will only get you 15 days !!

Does anybody know if it's easy to get a non-O (visiting friends) at Glasgow?

I don't recall any reports good or bad. You might give then a call to find out.
