What the reds fight for are: one person one vote, no army to make coups if they're not happy with a government, no out-of-Parliament power to interfere in politics, Constitution Law made by majority of Thais and not by Army after a coup, media to deliver true facts...

What the yellows fight for are: no 1 person 1 vote, no amendment of Army's Constitution Law, yes to coups, no Thaksin. Did I miss anything?

Veera, Natthawut, Chatuporn to hold another rally

From: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/breakingne...d-another-rally

You must win Thai politcal analyst of the day award

I'll take the sarcasm. I was meaning more from the point of view, that as the previous poster claimed, the "cause" was lost. The cause was confused and turned around on all sides months ago. Who cares what the cause is when it is now practically impossible for the government to enforce the rule of law and prevent chaos if all a given group has to do is get a large group of people together and flout the law? It will or has come to the point that simply assembling a lot of people will be enough to force concessions from the government. In addition I was also referring to the scale and type of roaming chaotic activity that the reds and the yellows both resorted to in order to push the government to an end point.

It works, so what are the odds that it won't happen again, and continue escalating in severity?

Not inteded as sarcasm actually but an amazingly accurate prediction!

I basically agree with you. It will be hard for negotiations to go anywhere while two opposong power groups are more intent on having their power war than really worrying about anything to do with democracy.

Koo, what you claim the reds fight for is fair and good. I would be a red tomorrow if that was the only agenda. But until you divorce yourselves from Thaksin, until you foreswear voilence, and until you put your demands in a cohesive and digestible manner (ie, not whitewashing misdeeds of politicians) then you have no credibility. The reds have many good points. But cut Thaksin out of the equasion and you will be listened to. Until then it is like a nation negotiating for ransom. The country is being hijacked for the sake of one man. We can not negotiate under these terms. Stop bringing Thaksin into it and you will regain credibility. Until then the majority of the people of Thailand will not accept the red movement (inspite of pictures of thousands of protesters - more people go to an AF concert on Saturday nights than that).

What the reds fight for are:

One person one vote - as long as it's a vote for Thaksin, and MPs are not allowed to vote for PM candidates from parties not approved by Thaksin.

No army to make coups - only bloody red revolutions are legitimate means of overthrowing the government

No out-of-Parliament power to interfere in politics - unless it's Thaksin appointing Cabinet Ministers or PTP party executives

Constitution Law made by majority of Thais - 56% in the only referendum ever does not count, also elite appointed writers of 1997 constitution from now on are declared "majority of Thais"

Media to deliver true facts - as approved by official Truth Today

Photo shown in Parliament meeting on 22nd April 2009. Army truck (or police?) with color painted to cover the source of this truck. People still can read from the wordings being covered. They used violence to clear the reds but they hid the identification.

I don't have any problem with what Abhisit and the democrats are fighting for. What PAD is fighting for sound very scary though. People who hate Thaksin need to be careful of not supporting an option that is much worse.

I feel for those yellows who watched ASTV for years and joined the dangerous protests. Many have died.

What do the yellows and those supporting them want?

How to run Thailand when you are the minority?

I don't remember the Reds wearing name tags either. If you are going to come into the city, hijack gasoline trucks and threaten to blow up residential neighborhoods, you should expect the authorities to try to stop you. What is it about this that you don't understand?

Who will the final winner ?

By democratic process ,the one has the majority support will the winner

Again this point seems to be lost on the reds. The current government was put in power because its coalition had the most seats to form the government. Most seats = majority of votes. How undemocratic can that be???

Question to the PTP and the Reds- if Pracha Promnok had been selected as PM back in December, would you claim this is undemocratic?

Summary - Thaksin is the devil, and PTP are the devil's spawn :o

Pretty sure most of us here agree with that.

These people don't agree:

redsign.jpg

Yes, but Koo, those people are idiots.

not sure about idiots but the reds are increasingly like some religious cult who feel isolated and hard done by and who rely totally on blind faith in the word. They even have their own faith based TV station and cult gurus. It is not like a poltical movement at all. The yellows also became like this although it took them longer for some reason.

The problem is that cults believe in absolutes. There is no compromise.

Another red cult like activity is their constant search for martyrs. They obviously really wanted some or at least one after their riot or maybe we should say first crusade and to date havent got one.

Yes, but Koo, those people are idiots.

How do you identify them as idiots ?

They blocked roads, they set fire to 20 buses, they parked a natural gas truck next to an apartment building, they attacked peaceful market vendors, they tried to drive buses into riot soldiers, they beat the PM's Perm Sec within an inch of his life, they tried to do the same to the PM. Its pretty damned easy to identify them as such. Your question identifies you pretty easily as well.

And before the TV mafia starts - the yellows are also idiots.

By the glasses. Anyway, that photo was taken in February, it would be interesting to know just how many of those in it are still red supporters after their shameful antics during the riots.

When you say above, "no out-of-Parliament power to interfere in politics", would you include Senor Thaksin in that, as I do ? :o

I think you missed the majority of the country who are neither red shirts nor yellow shirts, and actually DID vote 1 person 1 vote for the current government (minus a few in the house who cheated on both sides including the foul mouthed former PM who had no time to actually do any work because he was busy being paid well to host his political TV show masquerading as a cooking themed show and the other former PM who was an executive of a party proven to have cheated in the election)

Please...is it impossible for you to understand that most of Thailand has no interest in participatnig in this crazy protests/demonstrations, and would rather just get on with life without these f&*kwads threatening airports or far far worse threatening innocent neighbourhoods (not their own either) with gas trucks, thuggery and drunken antics?

They should ban those rediculous headbands, no one except Joy Siriluck looks any good in them.

Well the poster saying Thaksin is GOD... is a BIG tip off this guy has a screw loose.

ROBBER under Abhisit's picture, what has he been convicted of stealing?

The glasses show a serious fashion victim at least.

Yeah,

and then the Ayatolah Khomeni puts a Fatwa on your ass and you live with guards for decades.

In this case the Ayatolah of Thaksin's Payola wants him out of the loop.

When police fired tear gas to them, they ran and dropped bombs from their bodies and PAD lost legs, injured themselves and Nong Bo was dead.

Please post evidence to back your pipe-dreams.

Do you have evidence to say the tear gas police used on 7th October causing leg lost and death? I saw on tv they tested the tear gas after that to prove that it didn't tear even paper.

I saw a photo of a policeman with a short gun posted by SJ, thinking he might shoot the yellows. What about the whole set of soldiers with M-16 and other types of guns on this 13th April? Did any reds lose their legs because of tear gas? Or were they shot by soldiers?

I remember many Thai organizations and associations were against Khun Somchai government for using violence towards the yellows. But now they are all quiet when the reds were shot.

So are only yellows considered Thais and can receive protection from these organizations?

I didn't see any tv interviews those in the scene and those who are reds. Only Abhisit and his people announced "no death". Done. Trusted.

yeah yeah lets human rights call for justice to the foul mouth red woman who was pulled her hair. true believer only believes what the master says, your boss said 60-70 deaths show us one name, real death please not a fake one.

red-shirts say no class equalisation, yes koo82 call Khun Somchai, but no Khun for Abhisit :o . start from yourself first before demanding from others.

The damages after the riot may not enough for these people, how far do they want to destroy this country???? :o

My feeling is that Thaksin and his followers want total chaos, anarchy, regardless how many people will get killed in the process.

Fugitive protest leader Jakrapob Penkair yesterday said the red-shirt movement to drive the Abhisit Vejjajiva government out was not spent, but rather would come back even fiercer, including adopting guerrilla tactics if necessary, to achieve its goal...

... Different tactics would be used to confront the government, including possible clandestine subversion or armed attacks, he said...

Reading between the lines just means that you are reading what the author wants you to believe. It would be better if you read my tag...

The problem with your post is that one has to read through 45 lines of quoted text followed by one line of your reply until one arrives at your tag. Ever heard of netiquette? Ever read the forum rules here?

PHEU THAI

'Rats' waiting to jump Thaksin's sinking ship

By Piyanart Srivalo

'Rats' waiting to jump Thaksin's sinking ship

110 MPs said to want to join new party after Thaksin/reds' debacle

The Pheu Thai Party has become a "sinking ship", with the red-shirt led Songkran Day mayhem backfiring on them and their big boss, the ousted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, a source from the party said.

The source said that not only has public sentiment turned against the red-clad protesters, but people are looking at the Pheu Thai Party - known as belonging to Thaksin - in a negative light.

It was reported that around 110 out of 187 part MPs were thinking of jumping ship and joining a different party for the next elections. Earlier some Pheu Thai MPs in the Northeast decided to join Newin Chidchob's Bhum Jai Thai party.

Another reason for jumping ship was that the MPs are uncertain about political direction Thaksin will take.

"We have to listen to the voice of the public, gain the upper hand and build voters' support. We don't know how far the boss will go or what the consequences will be," the source, who asked not to be named, said referring to a recent discussion among Pheu Thai MPs.

As far as they are concerned, Thaksin has a negative public image and they need to move away and look for ways to cope with the situation, the source said.

"In the past, Thaksin did not seem to care about us. The only thing he wanted was victory, without any thought of the consequences. That put us in trouble," another MP lamented.

The trouble within the party forced Thaksin to turn to his ex-wife Khunying Pojaman Damapong, another source said.

Pojaman reportedly asked MP Chaiya Sasomsap to help unify the MPs and make peace with some senior figures in the Democrat-led government under the guise of bringing about reconciliation. Chaiya is said to have close connections with Newin.

Meanwhile, former executive of the now-defunct Thai Rak Thai Party, Prommin Lertsuridej, said he had never been asked to lead the red shirts because he was not involved or interested in the movement and had no political motives even though he had been granted amnesty to enter politics.

Earlier, there were reports that Thaksin had tried to start a new strategy by using his inner-circle, consisting of "October People" like Prommin, Poomtham Vejjayachai, Chaturon Chaisaeng and Kriangkamol Laohapairoj, to create a second-generation of red-shirt leaders.

Thaksin wanted them to bring back the mass support he lost during the Songran riots and rebuild his support base. The "October People" are believed to be talented in mass politics thanks to the experience they gathered during the student uprising in October 1973.
