I'm going out to Bangkok in August/September and I know it is very unlikely but I am interested in getting an IT or admin job out there.

I currently work in IT which I have been doing for four years after graduating.

I do and have mainly done support, implementation and administration.

I know without the Thai language I don't have much hope but would at least like to give it a shot and would happy for any job that would keep me in that kind of work whilst away from the UK even at entry level or lower.

So in order to have a look I guess I need to use a recruitment agency.

Can anyone give me any tips or pointers of who to contact to help me in my quest?

Many thanks.

You should take a look at the "Bangkokpost" or "the nation" jobs section.

Almost all IT jobs have the line "Thai Nationals only"....

Most IT jobs in Thailand are reserved for Thai Nationals who unlike you do not need a Workpermit and a Visa this makes you more expensive and too hard to hire for most companies.

Just look around the forum and read a lot before you come here so you know what you are getting into.

You have more chance finding work as an English teacher.

Try Gabriel Kelly at http://www.hansonregan.com/.

He got me a job a Siemens in Bangkok about 4 years ago as a SAP Basis Consultant.

Not sure if he still has contacts in Bangkok or covers your field of expertise but its worth a shot, mention my name he will know :-)

Very unlikely, indeed. Salaries for junior positions are low and it's unlikely the position would be offered to anyone who is not Thai.
