I was looking for a blu-ray drive for my PC and the cheapest I have found so far is at hardware house (http://www.hwhinter.com you have to click on prices and then search for optical drives).

they have a LG for 6900 Baht. This is a combo drive (LG BLU-RAY COMBO) so it also burns blu-rays.

pretty good deal i guess but maybe there is a better solution out there?

or even a standalone player for a decent price? I wouldnt really mind if it is a standalone player or internal PC drive......I can connect both via HDMI anyway.

I'd be willing to bet that it's actually a Blu-Ray reader/dvd reader-writer/cd reader/writer....
