I use 95 unleaded in both my bikes :o

Gasahol is fine if you run it every day and don't let it sit still for too long, but personally I wouldn't touch the stuff. Also, PM sent.

Zzinged. on older bikes like the cbr,vfr its not recommended to use gasahol. unless its an emergency. they will run fine on 91 also.

So what is recommended then? I suppose my fuel budget will be higher with an older 400cc bike.

160 baht fills the tank in my CBR150. 10 L I think?

LENNYA. STANDARD RED 91 is fine. and yes you will use more fuel. you really need to consider the Kawasaki Ninja 250 as a good alternative big bike. they are very good on fuel being fuel injected, fast enough and nearly new so no maintenence problems.

What type of fuel is used by say a VFR or CBR 400? Is there multiple choices? Advantages? Cost efficiency? Power? Cleanliness?

CBR 400 is my machine of choice right now.

95 benzine is the fuel of choice followed by Gasohol 95.

91 only if the above isnt' available and 91 gasohol if an emergency.

Best performance with 95 and the bikes range is increased slightly

I would be very leary of using gasohol 95 in that age bike.. Sure the 95 is what it likes more than 91 but I would be sure those carbs rubbers / pipes / floats / etc were nbot designed for gasohol !!

I second livin. also i found that my old Cbr 250 ran like a bag of <deleted> on gasahol ran fine on standard 91. but i suppose every bike is different. Allan

Well said. I was wary at first but my mechy pretty much confirmed on my bike it's ok for gasohol 95. I'll take his word for it. If not it get's fired into his shop for a strip-down.

^Agree with Livin and Allan,

The CBR 400 is an old bike whose fuel system was not designed to withstand the ethanol in gasohol. Sooner or later you will experience problems with fuel lines, gaskets and carbs as the ethanol degrades them. (There is an unproven theory out there that once a bike gets old enough all those rubber parts 'harden' with age and become resistant to ethanol)... Good luck!

Yup Gasohol and an old bike like the CBR400 do not mix.

Lucky for us you decided to go back to the UK and not join in the ride. Otherwise we may have to deal with a dead bike.

I would not trust your mechanic.

Stick to regular 95 or 91 stay away from Gasohol as much as possible.
