Visa Advice

Featured Replies

Hi, i work as a it-consultant in sweden and most of my work i can do over internet, so i was thinking about maby going to Thailand and work from there for halvf a year or so.., all i need is a internet connection..

Do i need a work visa ? Or something else ?

/Daniel

Besides a visa, you would need a work permit, which you can't get, unless you start your own company in Thailand. Many people therefor in your position choose to do it illegal and just tell nobody they work hrough the internet and claim to be just surfing.

There is no such thing as a work visa. A visa allows you to seek permission from immigration at the border to enter Thailand.

Ok, now you are just being stupid, you know what i meant.

Do you have friends in Thailand or are you over 50? If not the best soulution to travel to Thailand seems to get a double entry tourist visa. This will allow you to enter Thailand twice, each time you will get a permission of stay for 60 days. Both permissions can be extended with another 30 days. Making it almost 180 days, but you have to leave Thailand once after the first 90 days.

You would be surprised at how many people ask about a work visa. That is why some Thai Embassies and Consulates stamp "Employment Prohibited" on the visa page.
