All our PCs (3 on XP one on Vista) got the note from AVG that we have to upgrade to version 8.5 by April 30 some time mid April.

Did run the small .exe file after download as required and got a message that AVG will upgrade automatically within a few hours. Same as on all PCs.

This was about 20 days ago but as of today only one XP PC did get the upgrade.

All others are still runnning on version 8.0 but no more warnings are popping up.

Should I just sit back and relax and wait or should I uninstall the old AVG and do a complete new download of the new 8.5 version on all PCs?

The database updates are working on all PCs without problems.

I had tested a few days ago the version 8.5 and uninstall it again. It was just terrible how many false positives that version has found and not one of the files which were "infected" was any more usable after the healing (cleaning) process! The computer I was using for that was running XP-Pro!

Cheers.

Thanks Reimar for the info.

Could be that the AVG people figured out that there is a problem and stopped the auto upgrades for now since the database on 8.0 still updates as usual.

I'll stay away from 8.5 for now.
