Hi all,

Back again hoping someone can help me with some advice.

My wife's (we got married here in the UK last feb) fiance visa runs out on 2-june. :)

Obviously we want to do the next step which is the settlement visa for the UK

Now can we apply from here in the UK? Is it even possible? Is it likely to take too long, and we run out of time before shes forced to return to thailand by the visa date?

Or do we have to wait until shes back in thailand again? :D

any advice would be helpful

thankyou

Yes Apply for Settlement from within the the UK

It will NOT matter about the Visa expiry if you are waiting

Just Contact Home Office They will tell you. Tel No If you are in UK is 0870 241 0645

You Can get FLR same day but you have to attend. That is what I was told. I could have gone to Birmingham.

It is Much more Expensive to get if you want it Same Day

Was not an option for me I married in Uk but my wife had a child So she had to return to Thailand and obtain Visa for her daughter. did not want the wait Maybe 2 or 3 Months.

Plus the visa time would be ticking by Traveling back to Thailand and waiting for her Daughters to be Issued

Had this not been the case I would have gone down the postal route.

The Form WAS FLR(M) Version 04/2007 Fee WAS £395. For Aplications Made by POST

and £595 if made in person

If it is the same Form It is A lot more strightforward than the one you have to complete here in Thailand

And Cheaper if you go the postal Route.

Hope this helps

See also Completing application form FLR(M)

The current fee for FLR is £465 by post, or £665 in person.

Her FLR will last for two years, at the end of which she applies for Indefinite Leave to Remain using form SET(M); see Completing application form SET(M).

One of the requirements for ILR is that she demonstrates she has sufficient knowledge of language and life in the United Kingdom. She has the two years of her FLR to get this done, so should start now; don't leave it to the last minute!

Thanks guys

I did give the border agency a ring yesterday, and they said it was the FLR(M) one i should be using as well, as she is here in the UK already.

It does seem simpler, and on querying all the documents i wont have, joint named bills over a long period of time etc, the man said that shouldnt be a problem as we've only recently got married, just anything we have as evidence.

The only major sticking point is that she has a 3yr old daughter currently in thailand which we obviously want here as soon as possible, so i think once she gets her 2year stay sorted with what appears on the face of it.. the easier way, we'll apply for her daughter to come here after, more money, but at least the wifey will have the right to work.

Yes she can Work. Has she registerd at the Doctors ? If not Do that ASAP.

She will get A medical card. More proof of Address

She will need to take her Passport with her. So do it Before you send it Off for FLR

10weeks now waiting on the flr(m), feels like 10years..

just this morning got my passport back, they kept all the rest of the documents and her passport with a letter saying the application was valid, but they have passed everything on because further enquiries need to be made on her case?...

is that normal?
