What If I Lose My Job?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am currently under a triple entry tourist visa and can theoratically stay until december (when adding extensions etc...).

I have job offers, and as I understood I will have to apply for a business visa then work permit...

Now I am just wondering, what if I get laid off or decide to resign, will I be able to switch back to mw triple entry visa or do I need to go back to my home country to apply for a new tourist visa?

Thank you very much!!

You can apply for work permit on your tourist visa and after you get receipt you would travel to obtain a non immigrant visa for work. You can always change visas and obtain tourist visas from Consulates in the immediate area so not need to return home (unless you are from a country not allowed to obtain visas elsewhere). If you are from a country allowed 30 day visa exempt entry without a visa there should not be a problem obtaining locally. Also if on a 90 day visa entry and you end employment you can still stay until the 90 days expire. And if you still have a valid visa entry remaining you can exit/return to use that.

No problem. If your tourist visa was still valid you could leave and use the remaining entries up to the day before the enter before date. The same is true for any multiple entry visa.
