I helped my Thai wife with her online UK visit visa application last month and it's 'in the system'. We went ahead and booked an appointment for the interview knowing that there was still some paperwork pending from the UK but went ahead as we saw there was a reschedule appointment option on the VFS website. However, that only works in 2-week blocks and when she went online to reschedule for the 3rd time, the message was she had exceeded the times allowed to reschedule (or words to that effect). We didn't see any notices or advice that there was a limit on rescheduling and she is now worried that the whole online application is 'out the window' and she will need to start over again.

Anyone know if the initial application is still valid before she tries to set up a new interview online with the 'old' but never used application data? She has canceled the 15 May appointment. Does she need to start all over from scratch? The visit is not until late summer but with the nature of my overseas work and her business travel, plus an infant son, we thought it was best to start the application process early. Seems the 'system' may not care for long-ish term planning?

Thanks for any advice on this.

You have lost me here interview ?

The appointment is for submitting the application, however you should still be able to turn up and submit it without an appointment.

As she is your wife it is a family visit you require and you may get a 1 year visa should you require it.

Sorry i must add appointments only for settlement applications so you should be OK.

Regards Paul.

Cheers Paul. I will admit that the variations and complexities evaded me until I decided we needed to visit this summer and we started the application process before both heading for Singapore. I thought everyone applying for any visa was interviewed. Note to self: stop speed reading! I just re-read the email and it says 'appointment to submit' so she will try and make a new appointment online next week as I will be home from Vietnam for moral support... sitting in the pub. Otherwise, she will front up and submit it anyway.

In my letter to the visa people explaining my reasons for returning to Thailand, I said that I would hope for a 1-year visa since the primary reason is visiting my parents who are getting on a bit and may need some more frequent or urgent attention. I assume that the 1-year, if granted, will be multiple entry and not state she has to travel with husband.

Thanks again.
