inasia
What are my options for setting up a US$ bank account whilst in Thailand? Thai Banks? International Banks? Online Banks? Ideally, a savings account, that I can control from Thailand, that won't charge me for US$ SWIFT transfers, and avoid losing money having to convert money to-and-from Thai Baht - just keep it in US$. I don't need to access funds regularly from an ATM. I mostly need to store money, and earn interest f possible.

PattayaParent
Offshore banks aren't giving much in the way of interest on the US$ at the moment. You can get 1.00% on an ALIL 30 day notice account, 0.25% on their instant access. IOM branch. 0% in a US$ account in HSBC Jersey and you'll have to keep at least US$40k or they will charge you! Best rate I've found was 6.4% in Vietcombank but you have to be a VN national or a resident of VN to open it. Of course all will charge to transfer money to LOS.
