I am wanting to get high speed internet installed at my home but am unable to choose a company, mainly thanks to the lack of information in English.

Can anyone make any suggestions?

Thanks

Well I can tell you about my own experience : I am happily using the CSlox adsl service in the Bangkok area since 3 weeks.

It was delivered and operational one week after ordering via the website.

I did take the 128/256 package 'advanced', 1000bath/month.

Ping times to europe are 260 - 380 msec, and the bandwith is there (get around 80 % up and down of the 128/256)

so far as I noticed, in 3 weeks time the adsl service was down one day for 4 hours.

To keep the installation cost down, I used my own modem+router and installed it myself. In that case you only pay the activation : 800 bath.

Otherwise they try to sell you a modem and or router + a techo comes to your home to type in the password and login for you, and its charged extra of course.

There is a 500 bath and a 1000 bath subscription, offering the same speed.

for just some surfing and MSN-ing you can go with the cheaper 500 bath subscription I guess.

If you want to do voice or something else that needs reliable steady bandwith I would advise not to take the cheapest adsl.

loxinfo just reduced their prices, and you can get 1024/512 for 1000 baht per month whichis purdy darn reasonable and probably faster than TRUE.

San_Belgium should go and upgrade his speed package, and get the new price in doing so..

Well you need a land line first. :o

Check out TRUE and TOT

Both offer adsl services as well, and may throw in the land line when you sign up.

Along the lines of this topic, do True, TOT and other providers have minimum periods for their contracts. If so, what are the options if you decide to cancel prior to the end of the contract - is it simply a matter of paying a cancellation fee?
