Mixed Up Fuel At Ptt Chao Fa West

Seems that the delivery tanker truck loaded diesel fuel into the underground gasoline tank at the service station. People who filled up on Monday suddenly had their vehicles break down while driving. Happened to one of my cars, in fact.

The repair involved changing the plugs and points, cleaning out the fuel line and the tank, and leaving the car for two days at the mechanic.

There are lines of people at the gas station to lodge complaints. Those customers who have made complaints are receiving some satisfaction since the gas station management is willing to reimburse the victims for their repairs on presentation of receipts.

Fuelish mistake at PTT Phuket station in Chalong

Site of the mishap: The PTT Station

in Chalong, Phuket.

CHALONG: A mix-up at a gas station in Chalong caused large headaches for a number of motorists on Monday morning.

Staff refuelling the PTT station on Chao Fa West Road near Wat Chalong accidentally pumped 500-600 liters of diesel fuel into the station’s benzene 91 tank.

A number of customers who thought they were getting benzene 91 ended up with a tank full of diesel, causing their vehicles to grind to a halt shortly after setting off from the station.

The owner of the station, who asked not to be named, said that around 20 motorbikes and 10 cars were affected.

One unlucky customer, posting on the popular Thai Visa/Phuket Gazette forum, wrote on Monday, “There are lines of people at the gas station to lodge complaints.”

“The repair involved changing the plugs and points, cleaning out the fuel line and the tank, and leaving the car for two days at the mechanic,” the poster wrote.

“Those customers who have made complaints are receiving some satisfaction since the gas station management is willing to reimburse the victims for their repairs on presentation of receipts,” the poster added.

The owner of the station said that the problem was spotted quickly and that the benzene 91 tank has been cleaned out.

“It was a mistake and we’ll take responsibility to fix any problems it’s caused. Anyone affected should contact the station,” she said.

I fillup there often....... Whistle blowers, cashiers, tank fillers and who know what other lot lurk about and they can't get the fill right. Just think of how bad it would be if a mixologistg at the Green Man poured a vodka rather than gin Tini! Agast at what might happen if I got a load of petrol rather the Big D into the Toyota!

Sorry to go off topic.....

Is it possible to get 95RON petrol in Phuket? (Not the 95 gasohol).

Planning a drive trip there beginning of next year which my car can only take min 97RON petrol. (Else I'll need to lug toluene along to mix)

Thanks

It wouldn't seem unreasonable to have different sized filler nozzles on tanks holding differing fuels so a tanker unloading diesel could no connect up to a 91 gasoline tank. Maybe that's just too easy...

Thanks for the feedback. At least I know there's 95 benzene available, so I won't need to lug along 20 ltrs of toluene. :) Those off the shelf octane boosters will probably do the trick.

most of the Shell station have V-power = 95 petrol/benzine.
