Jhoinsmath
Not sure if this is the right place or not but here goes... I just bought my first house in the spring so im kinda new to house stuff. We are having a wicked wind storm at the moment and some of my shingles have blown off. The roof is about 15 years old and some shingles are starting to curl at the edges of the roof. First of all how big of a concern is missing shingles, other than being ugly. Right now it looks like 5 or 10 have blown off but its still blowing badly. Second is it worth it to call the insurance company? Is there a chance they would replace the roof? Any help would be appreciated, sorry if this is the wrong place for this. Thanks! Rimmer
Shingles!! They are those wooden or felt things the Americans laughingly call a roof right? Are they in fact shingles or are you calling ceramic roof tiles shingles? Yes it's serious, you will have holes in the roof and the rain will come in, that's what they are there for, to stop water coming in your house. Beardog
Off hand it does not sound to good. What kind of Shingles. what length- Cpac cement - long 120-150 cm type panels, asphalt. Give us the specs of what you got to get a better idea so anyone that has some hands on can give you some input. The more info you provide wil greatly enhance the feedback & ideas you will receive! lopburi3
This is Thailand? Are you talking wooden shingles? I can't imagine cement curling and have never seen plywood roof/US type shingles in use here. Insurance would also be rare in Thailand. Normally loss of a roof tile means open hole to suspended ceiling.
BigSnake
Similar problem a few year back, best thing talk to friends and trusted Thai neighbors for a GOOD Roofer that has done QUAILTY work for them in the past. This will be you best bet. Good Luck, this is the Rainy season.

Probably up on the roof nailing a plastic sheet over the holes ready for the next rain.

spud1
A roof (being made up of whatever composite that maybe) is there to protect the inside of a building from the elements. If parts of this structure have become dislodged ,damaged or are missing, this can only add to one conclusion "LEAKS". Ask a silly question!
