Exempt Visa/30 Days Upon Arrival

Featured Replies

I think my question has been discussed several times on this forum, just want to be sure that I am not getting any facts mixed up. My tourist visa application has been rejected in my home country due to the several entries stamped in my passport. They think I am working in Thailand which is absolutely not the case. After the 2006 change (90days/180days) I used to get

a tourist visa(double entry) at my embassy. I usually stay 4 weeks in Thailand and then go home for 2-3 weeks to attend to my business before returning again. Now they told me to just get a 30 day exempt visa stamp each time I arrive which actually suits me very well. My question is: is a tourist really allowed to travel into Thailand as often as he or she want's to as long as is it by air? In other words, could a tourist stay indefinetely If he or she enters every 30 day's by air. Do they assume people who can afford to travel by air into Thailand instead of border runs

are more desireable? Maybe I am missing the point.

Thank you very much in advance for any opinions.

There is no limit on how many times you can enter on a Visa Exempt entry. 30 days by air and 15 by land.

I cannot understand why you are being refused a Tourist Visa. I am sure that you can get one in a neighbouring country to Thailand.

And are they still free at the moment?

Tourist visas are free until June 4th.

You should consider getting a multiple entry non-o visa. That would allow you enter as many times as you want for a year getting 90 days each entry. You would not have show tickets out of the country and could stay longer if you needed to.

You can get one of the these from the Thai consulate in Stuttgart. They will accept applications by mail from anywhere in Europe. Website: http://www.thaikonsulat.de/index2.html

If that fails you can always apply by post to Hull in the UK. http://www.thaiconsul.co.uk/
