Faq For Getting Broadband Internet In Bkk?

Featured Replies

I'm sure for most people its not as essential to have internet access as it is for me -- I'd go into withdrawal. So in contemplating a relo to BKK, I'm wondering ahead of time about getting broadband access. I was sort of expecting a FAQ like there is for Visas, but I guess my priorities aren't quite the same as most people's... Or else I just missed it.

Q's:

- How widely available is broadband in Thailand today?

- Is ADSL from TOT the only broadband choice or is there competition from cable TV or wireless or other technologies?

- How far upscale does one have to go before its possible or already available in an apartment/condo?

- How long does it take to get installed/hooked up/turned on?

- What's it going to cost me?

Thanks

-its wide enought, don't worry about it

-no there are other depend what you like

-you can live in the ghetto and still have internet (all depend on the landlord)

mostly a week, if you live in a booney maybe a month or maybe not at all

-you like to live in and upscale area, so no need to worry about the price.

....

- How long does it take to get installed/hooked up/turned on?...

Two months waiting list for ToT 256/128 ADSL in Phuket. :o

Don't know about the provinces, but pretty widespread in Bkk now

Inet, CSLoxinfo, Jasmine, TOT, True .....

Don't understand this question. If you can get a direct line you can get ADSL (if it's available at all)

Anything from 3 days to 6 weeks, depending....

590 baht per month upwards. As with everything, you get what you pay for. Watch out for unrealistic sharing ratios - if you can get them to reveal what they are.

Thanks
