Flight Bkk To Vientiane?

Featured Replies

No Air Asia, so who flys there for not much? Or would it be more fun to drive?! Is it expensive to hire a Fortuner for example?

There is a direct train to the border.

There is a bus to Vientiane

You could also hire a car.

Lao air flys to VTE 2 times a day for around 4000bt, or asia air and nokair both fly to Udon Thani for as low as 999bt (1800bt regularly) or you can rent a car one way BKK and leave at Udon from budget or avis but I don't think you can take a rental car over the border into laos or take the overnight train to Nong Khai (about 1400bt 1st class 800 bt 2nd class) sleepers or all the way into Laos but I think that still leaves you about 15km away from VTE Udon airport is about 50 minutes to the border and VTE is about 20 minutes from the border so lao air is the most conveniant but most expensive fly to udon cheaper 1800 bt plus 150bt to border plus 350bt to VTE for minibus, train saves you a nights hotel room, car is about 10 hrs to udon from BKK

When i went, i got the plane to Udon, then minibus to the friendship bridge and then Taxi to VT. easy and cheap.

also got to see a bit of Udon, never been there before.

Is there a list of must see/do things for Laos somewhere?
