As most of you have noticed, in a lot of countries (not only in the southern hemisphere) wildfires are raging with a seldom seen violence. As a Phuket resident, I wonder what would happen if a wildfire of this dimension happens here. Are the firefighters equipped to tackle such a fire? Trucks, Helicopters, Planes, Firefighters etc..? What are the emergencies procedures? Not only for Foreign Residents/Tourists but also for the local population. Is there a place that distributes emergency bags, as the Red Cross does in Europe? As the brush clearing, from what I see on a daily basis, seems to be not in the dictionary here, and not only in Thailand, how can a disaster be avoided?
