I am currently in the final year of an undergraduate degree in the United Kingdom. My dissertation is a comparison of the EFL profession in Thailand and the United Kingdom. I would be eternally grateful if any Directors of Studies would take a few minutes to a questionnaire i have devised. If you are not a DoS but do/have done the hiring and firing at your School (or a previous one), I'd be grateful if you could complete and return one also. If you have any queries as to the authenticity or motives of my study (no, I’m not from a rival school, course provider or the Ministry of Education) please email me at [email protected] (my university email address)

Feel free to answer the questionnaire on the forum or if you would prefer, please email it to me on the address above.

As you would expect confidentiality is treated seriously and no names or schools will be disclosed.

1. What qualifications/experience do you require for an EFL teacher?

2. Do you interview candidates face to face? If not, how do you select them?

3. What salary do you offer to new teachers?

4. How long is a standard initial contract for EFL staff?

5. How many classroom contact hours are new EFL teachers expected to work?

6. Please list below any benefits that you offer, for example, end of term bonuses.
