On Tuesday we joined a concerned parent and his 10 year old daughter at the Nong Kum Temple School located on the outskirts of Pattaya. The young student had informed her father that a male teacher working at the school had touched her in an improper manner on a number of occasions especially during physical education lessons. The girl’s allegations include instances of the teachers touching the girl’s chest and attempting to pull down her gym trousers. On the same day a further student from the same class made similar allegations against the same teacher. This comes on a day when we received explicit camera phone footage of a gang rape involving junior high school students. We are unsure where the rape took place but can clearly see in the video that both male and female students were involved in holding down another female student as one of the boys raped her. We will not be publishing the video in question due to it’s explicit content but we are aware of similar cases in schools around Thailand. This disturbing video and the recent allegations of improper conduct at the Nong Kum Temple School were put to a top official from the Chonburi Provincial Educational Service Area Office 3 who confirmed that the teacher involved in this case has been suspended pending further investigations and the local Police Station has also been informed of the allegations. He declined to comment on the gang rape video.
