Getting Non-imm B In Vientiane

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

I just found out I'm on overstay cos I went to Laos without getting the proper re-entry stuff etc. This cancels my current Non-Imm B and Work Permit.

Planning to go to Vientiane, pay my overstay on the way out, and get a Non-Imm B at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane. Different sources tel me this takes different amounts of time. I have the necessary paperwork ready to go.

Some say if I arrive early in the morning (8-ish) it should be ready to pick up first thing the next morning. So I could leave BKK on Thursday say, and be back by Friday afternoon. Others say it takes two full working days to process...so I'd need to go on Wednesday morning, and return Friday morning or afternoon.

Anyone who has done this trip for Non-Imm B, I'd appreciate hearing how it went and how long it took for you. I've got to book flights asap and get this done.

Cheers,

Michael

You need to submit in morning but pickup will not be until next workday afternoon. It can be very busy so if you are late arriving you could have to wait until the next day to submit. Hundreds use that Consulate every day.

Depending on how long your overstay is land borders are not the best choice of departure - much safer to fly out and avoid any possible police check on the way to a border. But the chance of trouble seems very slim at present.

Hmmm, that's cutting it close then isn't it? If it's not ready by Friday afternoon, I'd have to stay until Monday I assume. Very good point about the overstay , probably much better to fly right into Vientiane. Asia Air doesn't go there, any recommendations?

Thanks for your help

Cheers

A lot of people get cheap flights to KL for visas. Believe policy for B visa issue is the same as Vientiane.

That said I have not seen any reports of serious problems for travelers on overstay for several years. But is is always a factor.
