Canaries

Featured Replies

Had a good look around and asked a lot of questions but no luck.Has anybody seen canaries for sale in or around Chiang Mai?

The only place I've ever seen them for sale is 'Chatuchak' in BKK and I remember I was shocked at how expensive they were.

Kim,

I'll have a check around SL2 next weekend for canaries.

How's this........ my wealthy Thai neighbour has just spent a small fortune on exotic birds.

He thinks that they are decorative ???...... already an African Grey has escaped (10,000bt)

and he bought a wooden framed cage for an Aussie Cockatoo, (15,000bt)

the bird will chew it's way out in no time. 55555555

He hasn't a clue, I feel sorry for the birds.

The cocky is on a chain since the Grey escaped, I've tried to suggest to have their flt feathers cut by a vet, but no luck so far. :)

Hi Chayakon

Hi gd

Sorry about the late reply, saw them there about a year ago and it was i think 2000 baht a bird, fancied starting an aviary but would have cost a bloody fortune, mind you I obviously got the farang price...next time send the missus!!

Maybe a bit late for the OP, but I saw loads of Canaries for sale in SL2 this week.

I didn't price them.

Sorry, I know nothing about bird dealers in CM.

Update:

Thai neighbour has given away about 80,000bt's worth of exotics to his relos.

The cleaning up every day got to him. :D

He has only kept the Aussie Cocky, and starts his car in the carport, and revs it up for about 5 minutes 3 feet from the Cocky's cage.. :)

Thanks for the time and trouble GD,no luck up here, lost cause me thinks. Sounds like the neighbours birds were smarter than the neighbour. How did those vines go?

Ahhh, the vines......

Not very well I'm afraid.

4/6 dead, neglect, as I wasn't sure if I'd renew my lease.

Now that I'm renewing, I'll see if I can save them and hitch them up to

the Mango tree. :)

I'm not a particular fan of wing clipping, although it's better than being on a chain! And, the wing clipping has to be done by someone who really understands how to do it.

I also have concerns about a wooden cage due to absorption of bacteria and viruses from the feces.

^^^^ The guy is a wealthy Thai. Never owned birds before.

You cannot tell him anything...... let him learn the hard way.

Very unfortunate for the Cocky. :)
