June 13, 200917 yr My retirement visa is up for renewal on Sept. 23. I am currently in Russia and will be here for another 6 weeks. As i understand it i must transfer the equivalent of 800,000 into a Thai bank account an ensure that amount stays there for 3 months. If i do that this week I will satisfy that requirement. I can do that as i already have a bank account in Bangkok. I then need to go to my bank and request a document confirming the sum was transfered from abroad. I should be back in BKK middle of July. Is there anything else i need to worry about? Can i then perform all the other requirements when i return? Cheers for any help.
June 13, 200917 yr Do you mean that you already have an extension of stay that expires on Sept 23 or a non immigrant "O" or "O-A"? Multi entry? If you currently have an extension and have a re-entry permit, then you should have nothing to worry about.
June 13, 200917 yr If it is your first extension the money only has to be in the bank for 60 days now. You can take of every thing else when you get here. What kind of visa will you be using to enter the country?
June 14, 200917 yr Author I have a retirement visa (extension of stay) valid until 23 Sept. '09. Also, I have a multiple entry, NON-IMM Re-Entry permit valid for one year. Valid to 23 Sept. '09 You are saying that now the law has changed and the funds only have to be in the bank for 60 days for the first extension? What about subsequent extensions? Cheers russianrobert
June 14, 200917 yr Since it appears you already have an extension of stay (it is not a visa) the money will need to be in the bank for 3 months.
June 15, 200917 yr Be careful some imm offices are still insisting on 3 months, at least I know Korat is.....or was when my son went for a marriage extension. HL
