Picture Scrambled When Streaming Tv To My Notebook

Featured Replies

Here's a nice little puzzler for the experts out there, if you are still talking to me after our spat about anti virus software :)

I stream TV programmes to my computers (TVU and the like).

I have a new Acer Notebook and it was streaming fine until last night, when suddenly the picture started to scramble. Worse still after a minute or two the machine froze, and then crashed.

Tried again same thing.

Checked with my desk top, works fine, same channel.

Checked again today - same problem - TV screen is scrambled, then freezes, then crashes my PC. Everything else working fine, as far as i can tell.

The media players work fine - perfect video. I even downloaded a film trailer in Windows media player and it worked fine. Then I downloaded a music video from the same set of ads in W media player and and it was scrambled like the TV streams.

Audio is fine.

I Googled ,but can't find hardly anything on this problem. I did find someone else with the same problem, but no obvious solutions. Here is a copy of his screen print, which is exactly the same as mine.

scrambled_TV.doc

Any geniuses out there who can throw some light on this?

Thanks

Hm.. stranger and stranger.

I just installed Windows 7 on another partition, and can stream TV and videos perfectly.

But no can do on XP - same lap top. Every time I click on a TV channel, audio comes, followed by scrambled picture followed by a freeze on the whole system, followed by a crash.

Seems to suggest something wrong with XP. I shall try re-installing.

Try system restore first.

There might have been some automatic update which messed up things!

Probably your anti-virus. :)

Hmmmm! A new one now scrambling your PC, who would be the brain child behind this little scam, I wonder, what would be gain, a fee to unscramble, a scramble stick for your Notebook :D:) My guess just a nasty old virus????
