June 19, 200917 yr Hi Friends, I am visiting Thailand on this July. I am coming from Australia. I am planning to apply for tourist visa on arrival. Now I heard that we have to show 20000 bahts as security amount for an induvidual to obtain the Visa. I am not that keen to carry 20000 bahts in form of cash. So can you please suggest me is it ok if I show the security deposit in form of valid credit card or any statement showing the fund balance in bank? Please suggest me any other options apart from cash. Your help would be appreciated as I can plan my trip accordingly. Thanks,
June 19, 200917 yr You will get a 30 day visa exempt entry not a visa on arrival. You do not apply it. Unless you are not a citizen of Australia. A visa on arrival is only for those from certain countries and is only valid for 15 days and costs 1000 baht. You should be prepard to show you have 10,000 baht (not 20,000) available to you in some form. Credit card, atm/debit card, bank statements, or cash wil do. But immigration seldom asks for it.
June 19, 200917 yr If you are Australian you are not entitled to a Visa on Arrival. You get a Visa Exempt Entry. And proof of money is rarely asked for. Visa on Arrival info. for those that are eligible. http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2491
