Visa Help Please!

Featured Replies

Hi there. My partner and I (Australian & English both under 30) are coming to Thailand soon for two visits. The first one will be for 35 days and the second for just under 90 days. Both are for visiting purposes.

Can you please explain what type of visas we'll need and how we aquire them?

Sorry, I know this same question has probably been asked a million times - I just don't want to screw it up!

Thank you very much.

Both visits will need a Tourist Visa. This will give an initial stay of 60 days. With about a week to go you can go to Immigration and extend your stay for a further 30 days for a fee of 1,900 Baht.

Depending on how soon you will re-enter Thailand after your first trip you can get a double entry tourist visa.

If you don't enter Thailand for the second time within 90 days after getting your tourist visa at the embassy you will need a new tourist visa from an embassy after your first trip.

As you are not both from the same country, it would maybe help to know where you are at the moment. In Australia, Uk or somewhere else?

Also what are the proposed dates of your trips?

Most tourist visas issued with 2 or more entries are valid for 6 months from date of issue.

The nearby consulates are one the few that only issue them with 90 days validity.

We are both in Aus at the moment. we'll be entered from Aus the fist trip on 1st of Sept staying for 4 weeks and then from England on the 20th of Jan staying for 3 months

I would get a single entry tourist visa in Oz for the first trip and then get a single entry non immigrant O visa from Hull or other honorary Consulate in UK for second trip (which provides 90 days on entry).
